Many people have asked me why do I do what I do. There are so many things I love about art. In this article I will tell you about these reasons.
Colors. I think it’s the most important thing why I love art. There are so many beautiful vibrant colors available. Sometimes I struggle because I can’t decide which colors to use for my paintings.
Paintings. Although I draw portraits of people, painting is still my favorite medium when it comes to creating art. It’s like a totally different world that you can create with these beautiful colors.
Texture. I love texture.
I’ve also learned to enjoy the unexpected/ unknown. Starting a new piece doesn’t always mean that an image of the finished version in my mind. It can be really scary to look at the blank canvas but if you just trust and create, the magic happens.
Art connects people. Since I started to draw and paint, I have met some amazing and beautiful people from all over the world. It’s so good to talk with like-minded people and discuss on topics about art.
Art shares emotions. I love to watch other artist’s artwork. There are always emotions in the paintings. That’s exactly what I want to accomplish with my paintings- I want to vibrate the positive emotions.
Art teaches you to observe/ look, see things from a different perspective
Art makes me happy.
Thanks to art I will never grow up. “In my soul, I am still that small child who did not care about anything else but the beautiful colors of a rainbow”. ~Papiha Ghosh
The process of making art. I love painting because of the process. It’s like everything else in life, you set a goal and then you start moving towards your goal. The most important thing isn’t the finish. During a process we learn so many new things. I grow as an artist during the process.
Art lasts long. You can see many artwork from famous artists like Pablo Picasso, Vincent van Gogh and Leonardo Da Vinci. These artists are dead but their story lives on in their art. My wish is to leave my own story to this world and I’m giving my best so that it would be positive and inspiring.
Art speaks the same language all over the world.I like the fact that it doesn’t matter where you come from, you will always understand the language of art because in order to understand it, you just have to observe.
Art is good for soul. It lights up my soul.
Art is freedom .It is free from world’s rules and standards.
Art is meditating. When I’m painting, then I feel like the world around me just disappears. I feel peace and oneness with the artwork. I’m concentrated in the present moment. I feel happiness.
Art is everywhere around us. Years ago when I didn’t paint and draw, I didn’t notice art around me very much. Although when I was a little girl, I loved to lay down on the grass and just stare the clouds with my friends and observe them. I saw animals and many other things. It was so much fun! Now I’m so happy that I notice art everywhere. It makes life so beautiful. Beauty is everywhere around us if we only pay attention.
You forget your worries. It doesn’t matter how big problems I have, painting always makes me forget everything.
You can be yourself freely. Nowadays in our society, there are certain standards and if you don’t fit in then you are considered to be a weirdo. Through art you can express who you are and be free.
There is no right or wrong. You don’t have to worry about doing it wrong.
I thought about doing a post about my favorite medium. You have probably noticed that I love to paint a lot. I paint because it makes me calm and I love beautiful colors. I will tell you the reasons why I love working with oil medium.
First of all. Since oil color is slow-drying paint then it’s perfect for me because I’m a slow painter and I can’t imagine myself painting with acrylic colors. I have painted with acrylics and I remember that the first time when I used them, I sort of had a panic because I wasn’t really aware of how fast they dry.
Secondly, oil colors have more pigment in them and it means they have more vivid and richer colors.
When it comes to cleaning the brushes. It’s so much easier when I use oil colors. Because with acrylics I would have to clean my brushes very quickly to prevent my brushes to be covered with dried paint.
Oil colors blend well with surrounding colors. I love to mix colors! It’s so exciting to use different colors and mix them together.
Oil colors also has great textural effects. I personally like when there is a texture in my paintings. It gives the painting 3D effect and painting comes alive.
I have noticed that with oils I can enjoy expressive technique.
There are a huge color range available. Since I started to paint the ocean series, I have found some colors which are my absolute favorite ones:
The fact that I can thin it right down and mix it with so many other mediums and oils. It gives me so much freedom. Although I’m a slow painter, sometimes I like to mix the paint with medium which will speed up oil paint drying time so that I could move on with the painting. You know, sometimes I’m a little bit impatient and that’s when medium helps me out.
Oil colors are very forgiving. If I make any mistake I can scrape off and paint over. I remember when I painted tigers. I used acrylics as underpainting layers for my oil painting and I applied the layer and it dried so fast, I wanted to scrape off some of it but I couldn’t because it had dried already. That’s when I knew that I’m a oil paint person.
I know that as much there are different people, there are different opinions about mediums. But this is my favorite medium. What is your favorite medium?
It’s 26th May and I’m sitting in the living room and writing this post about my new series. The sun is shining brightly and I’m full of creative energy. I’m really grateful that I can do what I love the most.
The time really does fly. I can’t believe I have finished 9 paintings already. I haven’t showed these paintings to anyone, besides my family. I’m really excited already to hear what you guys think about my new series.
I will announce the name of my new series by the end of June so stay tuned.
I don’t know about you but I consider myself very curious person. I always like to see the pictures which show how an artwork came together. That’s why I added some pictures of my painting progress. Hope you enjoy!

I hope you had amazing weekend! For the past few months I have been working on my new series which I will launch in August. I miss going to the beach a lot. I love the sun and I love the ocean. Fortunately I don’t have to wait for a long time. It’s already April and I can tell that the weather is getting warmer and warmer every day here in Estonia.
The days are also getting longer and longer which means that my days will be more productive. I can focus more on painting. So far I woke up in the morning and spent all the time for painting, as long as there was enough light for it. I don’t like to paint when I have to use the indoor lights.
Since I won’t show any finished paintings before August, so I thought that I would create the series of blog posts about my work in progress where I will show you the sneak peaks of my work.
I can’t hide my excitement when it comes to using these beautiful blue and green tones. Each time I go to the art shop I totally lost my mind and buy so many colors, even when I don’t really need them all. Haha.
I found very beautiful colors: phthalocyanine blue, turquoise blue, viridian hue.
These are some of the colors that I will use in my new series.
